I have been fishing Still House Point and Creek all of my life and catch a lot of catfish, just never over 8 pounds. Where can I go to catch some bigger fish and what bait should I use?? I normally use chicken liver or cut up shad. Please let me know as I am planning on coming out pretty soon to start the year off. Thanks and talk to you soon.

Can anyone tell me if the lake is iced all over?

Welp! Its been frozen for 8 days now and don't know about you but I'm looking to break out the wife's hair dryer to make a channel!

Water level down about 4 feet....one boat ramp at Ebeneezer blocked off cause it's sanded in and never been cleaned out. Still ok to run on the lake. Water temp 60 degrees with air temp on Sunday 40-75. Blue bird sky with almost no breeze....typical tough fishing day. Some stain in the Haw but main lake clear 1-2 feet.

Got lucky in one of my small club tourneys.....11 boats. Caught one 3 1/2# early on topwater and another at 11:20 AM on topwater...2#. Only caught three other fish but I had to measure two of them....one on topwater and one on shaky head. All shallow but the shaky head one in 6-8'. Took second with my two fish and still in first place in the boaters division...one more to go...Hyco in December. Only 4 of the 11 boats weighed in fish.

FYI.....Wildlife commission is considering changing the 16" minimum lenght limit on both Jordan and Falls in 2010 back to the same as the rest of the lakes.....14" minimum with two under. Hope they know what they're doing. Personally it seems to be tough to catch any fish over 16" in either one. I don't see anyone keeping fish but bank fishermen so don't know what effect the change will have. I do know that Falls has a ton of pressure since it's in downtown Raleigh!!!!
